A<\/strong>t this time of the year this is one of the questions we are asking. We are approaching election day. We see ads for candidates soliciting our vote from those running for President all the way down to local government officials. Many of them make promises, state some policies, but mostly are bashing the other candidate. And we ask, what is the truth?\u00a0 This not new, but each election cycle it seems to get worse. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the question that Pilate asked Jesus recorded in John 18.38, \u201cWhat is truth?\u201d This question was in response to Jesus statement, \u201cYou say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.\u201d  When it comes to political statements truth may allude us, but when it comes to spiritual things, we can know truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God is truth.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

John 14:6<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>ESV \u201cJesus said to him, \u201cI am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John 17:3<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>ESV  \u201cAnd this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John 16.13<\/u><\/strong> ESV \u201cWhen the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Word of God is truth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Psalm 119:160<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>ESV \u201cThe sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John 17:17<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>ESV \u201cSanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romans 1.25 expresses the truth that in Paul\u2019s day and it continues in our day that many in the world have \u201cexchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us stand firm in the truth of God in his person and in his word. Let us listen only to this truth and abandon and reject all lies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
