Prayer may not be a word that in general needs to be explained, but it is helpful to be reminded of things about prayer occasionally. First, my favorite definition of prayer is that it is a natural conversation between us and God. Exodus 33.11 gives us an example, \u201cSo the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.\u201d Therefore, we can pray to God anywhere, and everywhere and just talk to him about what is going on. Recently I heard a song from the 90\u2019s by Lost Dogs. Here are some of the lyrics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the submarines and tanks
In the S and Ls and banks
In the cancer wards, the prisons and the bars
On the earth and on the moon
In the closet, in your room
In the flop houses, the think tanks and the farms
To the salesman forever trying to sell
To the faithful daughter walking to the well<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the fields and in the factories<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At work or school or driving in your car

And so let us pray wherever we are, whatever we are doing. He is right there with us through the Holy Spirit waiting for us to talk to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
