There are times when our feelings come quickly to us like anger, fear, even sadness. But in these even there is a choice. Do we allow them to control us. Do we allow them to linger. Or do we change our perspective and disposition. This picture encourages us to make the right choice in Christ.
How can we change our perspective? We change our perspective by changing our focus. Seeing problems, complaining, fear and heavy hearts come from a worldly and temporal perspective. But seeing possibilities, gratefulness, joy, living by faith, and having a peaceful heart come from a godly and eternal perspective. Instead of looking around, we look up.
- Colossians 3:2: “Set your minds on things that are above, not on earthly things.”
- Philippians 3:20: “But our citizenship is in heaven, and we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
- 2 Corinthians 4:18: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
So, whatever you are going through, whatever life is throwing at you, keep looking up to the one who is in control of all things. He loves you and will care for you and gives you the strength to endure to the end.
Look Up, Child – by Lauren Daigle
Where are You now, When darkness seems to win?
Where are You now, When the world is crumbling?
Oh I, I hear You say, I hear You say
“Look up, child, hey, Look up, child, hey”
Where are You now? When all I feel is doubt?
Oh, where are You now, When I can’t figure it out?
Oh I, I hear You say, I hear You say
“Look up, child, hey, Look up, child, hey”
